Botanical Family: Lamiaceae

Latin Name: Lavendula vera, angustifolia

Description:
Our Highland Lavender comes from Mt de Cheiron in France and is a completely wild, heritage lavender that is joyfully gathered by hand and distilled at the residence of our artisan producer. The aroma of Highland Lavender at 1400m is sharp and sweet with some fruity tang to it. Each elevation has its own subtle differences. I personally find the lower elevation offer's a more grounded perspective while the higher elevation of 1800m offers a broader more expansive perspective and the 1600m is a nice balance between the two. Highland Lavender at 1400m is most useful as nervine, heart tonic, and conditioning the skin and the veins. The higher the elevation the more ester content you will find in the essential oil (esters assist with the sedating and anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmatic properties, but it is an alchemy of nature not the ester content alone that offers the medicinal value) and the sweeter and more complex it becomes as the plants face more harsh conditions and continue to adapt and thrive. Do you need the medicine of wisdom and perspective or the grounded comfort and feeling of protection that is felt closer to the base of the mountain... or a balance of the two? This is the question I ask when choosing the elevation of Highland Lavender. Plants carry the energy of the place in which they grow and hold that within their vibration. This can be another way to look at how we choose any essential oil for a wholistic approach towards healing and wellbeing. All lavenders support the Central Nervous System, assist with calming anxiety, alleviating depression and cooling heat in the liver. Lavenders in general are anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmatic, anti-rheumatic and support the qi of the heart. Highland Lavender 1400m can assist with feeling comforted, protected, safe and centered.
